I wish there was more to show, but Rich and Nikki are re-doing electric at Running R and are busy with that, plus, today is HOT. Upper 90's and heat index 105-110. So, they are taking today off, and then the weather is supposed to break and be back into the 80's. Soooo, maybe by the weekend we can measure and order the flex fence. It sure looks pretty already!!! Oh yeah, I need to buy paint this weekend and get on that, too....

Fencing underway!
Broke ground on the front paddock/pasture fence posts, yesterday. Our fencers put in about four, then called us because they thought maybe they had hit a water line or some other utility. I called and had them marked, so was a little freaked out. Went out, put my hand in the hole. It's a rock. Oh well, better to be safe than sorry! Also, this was during the peak heat of the day, so maybe it was good to break for the day, anyway. They will hopefully be starting earlier today while it is still "cool." Good old Kansas in July! God love 'em for doing the project in the summer. :-) The next picture should show LOTS of posts in *fingers crossed*

Balls, balls, balls in the air...
I think this weekend is going to be crazy, but hopefully VERY informative. In a way, I am a little afraid, because we are getting quotes on SO many things that cost SO MUCH money!
Two different excavators are coming out to give an idea how much the excavation and base on the arena are going to be. This is the one that I am most worried about. Is it going to be 5K? Or like, 20K?! I will feel like perhaps I can spend more money on other stuff, if this is not going to be a kick... in the balls.
Someone is coming out tell us how much my "dream" stalls are going to be. Not the whole shebang, mind you. Just the concrete part.

(These are from the MN State Fairgrounds. I love them! I want them!!!)
So, in addition to getting info. on how much the block part is going to be, I'm getting info. on the cost of the doors and screens.
The concrete aisle way quote was not too bad. But, it sounds like we might need more if EVERY wall of the stalls has to sit on that kind of foundation. :-/
Fence post are going in! Then, we have to order the fence!!!
Woot. I feel like it's going to be chaos around the farm for a while, until it all takes shape.

Moving Weekend, Part II
Barn manager and books lady, Penny, is finally moving down this weekend! I could NOT be more excited. Once she is here, we can really finalize some projects and get things underway. Also, it's going to be a mini family reunion! Everyone on the Lindsay side, except my grandma and two cousins, are coming to help move.
I am up drinking coffee on the front porch and enjoying the view, while they send me updates on the loading caravan. It looks like the Minneapolis crew is on the way to WI, so hopefully they will be on the road shortly. 6 people, three cats, 2 vehicles! Sounds like a day!
(Although, they don't need to make GREAT time, cause I have a lot to get done here before they show up. :-)

Measuring is hard.
Spent some time measuring for the front field/turnout. I feel like this should be fairly simple, but in reality, trying to figure out how far from the neighbor's fence line, how far back from the road, how close to the tree line, how far onto the gravel by the barn, how/where the gate(s) are going to go... how we want to set it up so it's easy when we divide into two runs later... it was kind of frustrating. But, it was also in the 90's, and I was a bit tired from the day before. The bottom line is, no matter what size I did the math on, I'm short on posts!!! The posts that I spent all day yesterday getting!!! Five trips to town and going to three different stores and picking through to find the BEST and prettiest 5 x 8 and 6 x 8 wood posts. Do you know how embarrassing that is, and how neurotic I looked? I'm pretty sure the people at Tractor Supply never want to see me, again. And for sure the guy at Orscheln's who I made stand out in the rain and show me all his posts wasn't happy. Sigh. I'm getting up tomorrow and getting more.
(I did have fun playing with the big tape measure, though.)

Moving weekend....
I really wish I had taken more pictures of moving weekend. Because moving is so glamorous and fun!
Saying bye-bye to my favorite roommate (sorry Brendan, Elwood wins!)
The view from the porch. We slept in the house the night of closing, even though we had no furniture and slept on the floor. Comfy!
Unloading the U-Haul. Damn, that was a good idea. I think it would have taken 50 pick-up truck loads. What a bitch. Again, should have taken pictures of the storage compartment we emptied, and how freaking baller we were that day!
Holy Jesus. After the move. Wrecked. And super sexy.
That's my beer on the ledge. I deserved it after that day.
